Caring Groups
Peace and Justice Group
This group is strongly connected to Jesus' purpose as the "Prince of Peace"...which means that caring is advocating for an end to war and that premptive war is immoral and unaceptable. And that fairness to all people is the primary way to world peace. This diverse group also recognizes that war and conflict in the 21st century is usualy connected to energy and the environment. Global warming is a human caused critical threat to the entire planet and all of God's creation. Peace and Justice normally meets the first monday of each month and sponsors numerous public invited events throughout the year.
Parish Visitation Team
The Parish Visitation Team is comprised of a dedicated group of people who have been commissioned by the congregation, and work in partnership with the Session, the Deacons, and the pastor, to be a ministry of love and listening, support and service to members and friends of LCPC, visiting them in their homes, in hospitals and nursing homes, wherever there is a need.
Prayer Chain
This group’s mission is to provide intercessory prayer on request. All requests are confidential.
Caroling Groups
During the Christmas season, several groups are formed to visit the homebound and those who are temporarily unable to attend worship, and sing Christmas carols to them. A tray of cookies is given to each home.
Mission Work Group
This is a group of women who meet the second Wednesday of every month with needle, thread and scissors at the ready. There is also a group of mission members who are willing workers at home. Examples of the work they do include: hats for the homeless; baby bibs, crib blankets, booties, and quilts; hospital gowns; hospital dolls; etc. Beneficiaries of these wonderful gifts are organizations such as Thy Bounty; Providence House; Faith, Hope and Charity; Medical Benevolence; Metro Hospital; Metzenbaum Sheltered Industries; and others.
