We each have our own versions of the “other” whom we implicitly disdain, whether we choose to admit it or not. Yes, we see color. Yes, we see religion. Yes, we see nationality. Yes, we see party affiliation. Yes, we see gender. We see these supposed differences and we are taught to make judgements about them.

Jesus invites us to see our own prejudices, and he calls us to move past them
into something deeper: saying yes to mercy and compassion.
